ASEM Outlook Report Presentation

Asia Europe Relations - 30 Years in the Future

The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and the United Nations University-Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) will organise the presentation of the ASEM Outlook Report 2012 in Bangkok (Thailand) this year. The event will take place in Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok on 11 March 2013.

The report examines the current state of Asia-Europe relations and proposes possible future developments based on a series of multi-sector expert consultations. The four distinct policy areas analysed in the report are: economic and financial integration, environmental governance, security and conflict management, and public health. The key findings of this two-volume report will be presented during the event in Bangkok. There will be opportunities to discuss the future of Asia-Europe relations and bi-regional cooperation with a panel of experts.

The first volume of the report provides the current context for Asia-Europe relations. This includes statistical information on the latest political and socio-economic conditions, as well as information on the perceived relationship between the regions, drawn from ASEF’s research on perceptions. The second volume identifies emerging policy issues and future areas of cooperation in the four policy areas mentioned above.

The ASEM Outlook Report 2012 is part of the ASEM Outlook project. This project, established in 2005, is a series of workshops designed to examine the scope and depth of Asia-Europe relations.
