Asia Europe Economic Forum

This year’s 15th Asia Europe Economic Forum (AEEF) will be hosted by Bruegel on 17-18 October 2018 in Brussels, Belgium and will be held in conjunction with the 12th ASEM Summit (ASEM12), taking place on 18-19 October 2018 in Brussels, Belgium. The theme of the 2018 AEEF is ''Europe and Asia: Global Partners for Global Challenges'' and will focus on monetary and housing policy, global climate change, international trade and Asia-Europe connectivity.

With growing recognition and consolidation of the linkage between the European and Asian economy, consortium partners from Asia and Europe agreed in 2006 to establish the Asia Europe Economic Forum. The Forum is ought to serve as a high level platform, giving Asian and European policy and economic experts an occasion for in-depth research-based exchanges on global issues of mutual interest.

Since 2007, the forum has organized 13 meetings in Asia and Europe alternately to cover a wide range of issues on the global economy and economic cooperation between Asia and Europe. The conferences feature specialised research papers and the outcomes are channelled to policy makers in both regions.

The Asia Europe Foundation has initially joined the consortium in 2013. ASEF works together with a consortium of top think tanks in both Asia and Europe to organise the AEEF programmeand has since supported a number of conferences, including:
