The ASEF University is a two-week intensive enrichment programme held annually at venues alternating between Asia and Europe. The programme offers a unique opportunity for up to 45 promising undergraduate/graduate students, preferably in their final undergraduate year or first graduate year, to broaden their horizon and deepen their insight into contemporary international issues and their significance for Asia and Europe in a multi-cultural setting. The theme of the 15th ASEF University is Migration and Multi-Cultural Societies; Opportunities and Challenges. The evolving state of international relations and the development of the globalisation process in Asia and Europe points to the migration as one of the global issues of the early twenty-first century, as more and more people are on the move today than at any other point in human history. There are now about 192 million people living outside their place of birth, which is about three per cent of the world's population. There is growing recognition that migration is an essential and inevitable component of the economic and social life of every State, and that orderly and properly managed migration can be beneficial for both individuals and societies. The multiple and complex dimensions of migration issues include: • History and Geography of Migrations • Multiculturalism in Today’s Society • Challenges and Opportunities of Migration (European & Asian Perspectives) • Family, Gender and Migration • Migrants in Korea • Media and Diversity • Metropolis in Asia and Europe • The Value of Difference
