Mapping Cultural Diversity
Mapping Cultural Diversity-Good Practices from around the Globe is ASEF’s most recent publication in the field of cultural policy. The book profiles 39 innovative projects that protect and promote the diversity of cultural expressions in different parts of the world, including 17 from Asia and Europe.
The featured initiatives reflect the interplay of practice and policy in achieving the objectives of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and the Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005). The selected projects cover diverse fields addressed in the Convention (such as policy measures, arts initiatives, capacity building and information sharing) and operate at various levels ranging from the local to the international.
By carefully documenting case studies of good practices, it is hoped that they can provide inspiration for networking and collaboration, and also aid planning and policy making.
Mapping Cultural Diversity was launched at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in November 2010 on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Convention and alongside the meeting of the 4th Ordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the Convention.
