OVERVIEW

This meeting was attended by 41 young parliamentarians from 20 ASEM member countries and the European Parliament.

Richard Higgott, Director of the Centre for Globalisation Studies at Warwick University (UK), gave a presentation on the "Welfare State And Globalisation." His lecture provided participants with many points for discussion and debate in their working groups. Apart from generating insights, the working groups also proved to be an excellent networking medium for the young Asian and European legislators.
