The 19th International Youth Forum was held to focus on current global issues that aggravate the living circumstances of human beings, and to examine how Asian and European youth -- as leaders of the future -- could contribute and participate in the global development.
The primary themes of the Youth Forum were:
- Environmental protection and climate change
- Education to eradicate poverty
- Decent work and unemployment
- Public health policy
- Gender equality
- To encourage mutual understanding, co-operation, and deepening of ties between the youth from Asia and Europe
- To enable young people to identify possible solutions to global challenges and to take responsibility for their active involvement in solving problems
- To provide a space for young people to make contribute to the institutional process of ASEM
