OVERVIEW

This inaugural roundtable session was attended by 50 participants from 15 ASEM member countries, who gathered to discuss the following topics:

- Regionalism and institution-building

- The issue of enlargement, economic growth, and competition

- Social stability

- Asia-Europe challenges in co-operation

The panel discussion at the final session was followed by a debate on the future of Asia-Europe relations and how challenges and differences could be overcome to create synergies and opportunities for increased co-operation and mutual understanding between the two regions.
