Arts and Culture

The International Seminar on Asian-European Epics in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 26th-30th October, 2002 gathered more than 30 experts from 16 ASEM countries to present different facets of epics: as influences for history, literary heritage, visual arts and performing arts.

This seminar, co-organised with the Cultural Centre, University of Malaysia with the support of the National Arts Academy (Ministry of Culture, Arts and Information, Malaysia) had different presentations and discussions which not only stressed the richness and variety of epics in Asian and European countries but also led to the awareness of identification, preservation, documentation and dissemination of epics in Europe and Asia. The seminar was chaired by Prof. Ghulam-Sarwar Yousof, then ASEF Governor for Malaysia.
