Overview
From Asia-Europe Colloquy on University Co-operation to the ASEM Rectors’ Conference
The Asia-Europe Colloquy on University Co-operation was a series of annual conferences which gathered higher education professionals to tackle transversal topics such as governance, management, research co-operation and development. From 2005-2007, three events were held:
- The inaugural Asia-Europe Colloquium on “Universities Of Tomorrow.”
- The 2nd Asia-Europe Colloquium on “E-Learning In Higher Education: Challenges And Opportunities.”
- The 3rd Asia-Europe Colloquium on “University Governance And Management.”
In 2008, the 1st ASEM Rectors' Conference was launched as a response to the 1st Asia-Europe Meeting of Ministers for Education (ASEMME).
Our Work
- Bring together university leaders and higher education experts from ASEM countries.
- Provide a discussion platform for topical higher education policy issues between Asia and Europe.
- Promote co-operation between universities in both regions.
- Develop recommendations for further co-operation and exchange opportunities, to be submitted to ASEM governments and regional bodies.
In 2010, the 2nd ASEM Rectors' Conference was hosted by Korea University. The third edition will be hosted by the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) in 2012.
