ASEF Creative Networks

Overview

ASEF Creative Networks supports collaborative projects that favour the building of cultural/artistic networks in Asia and Europe. Through this programme ASEF seeks to strengthen its role as a connector between cultural networks in Asian and Europe since the past 15 years.

This new initiative complements the successful work of Creative Encounters: Cultural Partnerships Between Asia and Europe and works through a similar selection and funding model. Based on an open call for proposals, ASEF Creative Networks focuses on specific collaborative projects that favour effective bi-regional partnerships and long-term co-operation among networks. The programme seeks to support joint endeavours of such networks with a result-oriented approach (e.g. travelling exhibitions, mapping and surveys, education/training programmes, online platforms, etc.)

ASEF Creative Networks encourages collaborations between cultural networks in view of reinforcing the dialogue between cultural professionals from the two regions. Through this programme ASEF responds to the recommendations of the Culture Ministers of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), set out at the 2nd ASEM Culture Ministers' Meeting (ASEM CMM2) in 2005, which call for “further enhanced networking among professionals in the cultural field, through existing professionals’ network.” The ASEM Workshop on Enhancing ASEM Visibility through Cultural Activities (2010, Viet Nam) reinforced the value of these recommendations by proposing the activation of “already existing networks and facilitate the setup of networks of professionals in the cultural sectors in Asia in order to enable balanced exchange between Asia and Europe.
