Towards an Asia-Europe Network for Public Health Following the successful launch of the ASEM Initiative for the Rapid Containment of Pandemic Influenza last May 2009 in Hanoi, ASEF held its first Partners’ Meeting to formally establish an Asia-Europe Network for Public Health on 25 June 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Network aims to serve as a bi-regional, multi-sectoral platform for enhanced collaboration on health-related issues between Asia & Europe. The event brought together representatives of key international stakeholders to discuss common areas of concern and to arrive at a general framework for the Network’s activities.

The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) was established in February 1997 under the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) process. ASEF seeks to promote mutual understanding, deeper engagement and continuing collaboration among the people of Asia and Europe through greater intellectual, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between the two regions. |
