| Expert Roundtable on cultural heritage in Asia and Europe |
| In preparation for the 4th ASEM Cultural Ministers’ Meeting, the two-day Roundtable discussed the multifaceted aspects of cultural heritage and the various challenges experienced. Among the key topics there were multiple stakeholder and community-centred partnerships and the urgent need to maintain a balance between preservation and modernisation in urban contexts. Environmental Human Rights is an area that is continuously being debated. Why is it relevant for Asia and Europe, and how can non-formal education and the youth help promote them? ASEF Deputy Executive Director, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Khanh spoke at the opening of the Regional Workshop on Operational Preparedness for Early Response to Emerging Infectious Diseases, organised by the World Health Organisation. In his remarks, Amb Khanh highlighted the significance of the ASEM Initiative for the Rapid Containment of Pandemic Influenza, of which the ASEF Network for Public Health is an important component.
